Covenant Care Accreditation Primer Survey 2016 Report

It is with great pleasure that we would like to acknowledge and express our thanks to all the staff, AHS partners, contracted providers and physicians that participated in the very successful February 22- 25, 2016 Accreditation Canada Primer survey visit. We are so pleased to be able to share some highlights from the final report from the Accreditation Canada survey team.

The final results provided by the surveyors are very positive. This is a testimony that Covenant Care is committed to resident safety and to the delivery of quality care and services and that all of you strive to live our mission and values every day.

This year, the Accreditation Canada team visited Villa Marie Manor, Holy Cross Manor, St. Marguerite Manor, St. Thomas Health Centre, and Chateau Vitaline.

The surveyors found a significant sense of team and hopefulness throughout the organization. They assessed the organization in relation to national standards in: Planning and Service Design, Human Capital, Integrated Quality Management which includes Principle-based Care and Decision-making, Emergency Preparedness, Medication Management, Infection Prevention and Control, Episodes of Care (Leadership, Competency, Decision Support, Impact on Outcomes, Medical Devices/Equipment and Physical Environment.

The surveyors highlighted organizational strengths in clinical leadership, our team approach, resident- centred approaches, being a values driven organization and our quality leader resources.

Our thanks to Jon Popowich, Chief Quality and Privacy Officer, Edythe Andison, Quality Consultant and in particular, our Covenant Care Operations team for their outstanding leadership this year in ensuring we continuously focus on improving quality and safety for the benefit of those we serve.

Accreditation is an ongoing process that will help our residents receive the best care and help us meet the challenges of the future. We encourage all of you to provide information and insights that will help us identify improvements to the way we work together, our care environment and the quality of the care we deliver.

We thank all of you for your contributions to this year's Accreditation survey and your ongoing efforts to provide the very best care to our residents and the gifts and skills you bring to our team.
