Patrick is a mission-driven leader, committed to transforming the health system through innovative approaches to supporting seniors in a caring community where they can thrive. The Covenant family has grown under Patrick’s leadership to play a vital role as a key partner in Alberta. Pursuing his passion for service and excellence and a bold vision for Alberta, Patrick is focused on working in partnership with patients, residents and their families and working collaboratively with Government, health partners and community to create communities of health and healing. His leadership is rooted in our mission of compassionate, quality care that attends to the whole person—body, mind and soul—and responds to those most vulnerable in society. He is immensely proud of the Covenant Care and Covenant Living team’s unwavering commitment to creating enriching places to live and work, respecting dignity and individual choice, encouraging a spirit of creativity and nurturing each person’s potential. Patrick has served in health care executive leadership roles in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and holds an MBA from Queens University and a bachelor of administration from the University of Regina.



Derrick brings over 22 years of leadership in the health and continuing care sectors to help both Covenant Care and Covenant Living’s continued commitment to a robust service model that supports innovation and our mission to provide the highest quality of resident-centered care and client-centered services.

Derrick most recently served as Executive Director for Baycrest Health Sciences in Ontario, were he led, managed and oversaw 472 beds. Prior to his role at Baycrest, Derrick was the President at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Center & the Villa, also in Ontario. At St. Joseph’s he led, managed and oversaw two organizations with a total of 637 long term care beds, 107 life lease condos, an adult day center and multiple other programs & services including hospice palliative care.

Derrick is committed to building a strong culture where seniors and employees can thrive and; vibrant communities where residents, clients, families and employees experience meaningful interactions and; relationships are nurtured.

Derrick holds a Masters in Business Administration, Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor’s of Science.
His experience in building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners across sectors and provincial boundaries will help Covenant work collaboratively with others toward our vision of greater service.

As President, Derrick will report directly to Patrick Dumelie, CEO of Covenant Health, Care, and Living and will oversee the continued execution of Covenant Care and Covenant Living’s plans, further aligning our mission, vision, and values within the Covenant family.



Allaudin has over 20 years of experience in health care in Alberta and internationally.  He has held senior level positons in finance and operations in large and complex organizations, including integrated health systems, and has worked in Asia and East Africa.  Allaudin has been a community volunteer and has undertaken projects in developing countries.  Allaudin was born in Uganda and studied in London, England and Canada.

Allaudin is an Alberta Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant with IT specialization (CA*IT) as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) in England & Wales.



Steve has over 10 years leadership experience in Human Resource delivery and other business related functions; he is known for his people-centered strategic thinking and innovation.  Steve has a deep respect for residents and their families –starting his health care career as a food service worker serving patients their daily meals.  It is there where he recognized that as an employee his own personal interactions can help brighten the day for a patient.  Steve also has a keen understanding of the provincial health system, having worked for Capital Health, Alberta Health Services, Government of Alberta, Covenant Health, and now Covenant Care + Covenant Living. Steve is familiar with the nuances involved in health care delivery and has made significant contributions to local, provincial, and national conversations about creating a work environment where every employee can flourish.

Steve has a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Alberta, a Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Health from Concordia University, a Canadian Certification in Environmental Health, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alberta.  He is also a Candidate for the international designation of Strategic Management Professional.

Jo Ann is a trusted and respective leader with extensive experience in clinical care, service and corporate services.

Working as a registered nurse and a leader, Jo Ann’s focus is on person centered care and ensuring a just workplace. Her expertise has made her successful in managing clinical programs in acute, care, supportive living, and long-term care environments.

Jo Ann served as Acting Senior Director of Operation for Covenant Care in 2014-2015. During that time, St. Marguerite Manor and Dulcina Hospice were completed and commissioned.

Jo Ann was the Senior Director of Operations for the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre for the past three years, before joining Covenant Care and Covenant Living as Interim Vice President, Resident Experience. She has held a number of leadership roles with Covenant Health over the past 10 years, including Director of Strategic Recruitment and Workforce Planning and Director, Research and Education.
