Oct 25, 2020 – Chateau Vitaline Outbreak Resident/Family Memo

DEFINITION OF TERMS:

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has outlined three levels of COVID-19 outbreak:

  • Outbreak Prevention—No residents or staff showing any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Under Investigation— At least one resident or staff member who exhibit any of the symptoms of COVID-19
  • Confirmed—Any one individual (resident or staff) laboratory confirmed to have COVID-19

You will be contacted if your loved one is displaying any symptoms of COVID-19. All families will be notified if there is a probable and/or confirmed outbreak at the centre where their loved one lives.

It is important to know that COVID-19 symptoms are similar to the symptoms of many other viruses, including respiratory infections and influenza. In continuing care and supportive living environments such as ours, it is not unusual for two or more individuals to exhibit symptoms such as fever, cough, diarrhea, runny nose, etc. While these symptoms do not mean a certain diagnosis of COVID-19, we are following all protocols and will test anyone with symptoms and implement additional precautionary measures until the results are known. We are exercising extreme diligence and monitoring residents very, very closely.
