Long Term Care

What is long term care?
Continuing care includes long-term care facilities like Covenant Care and auxiliary hospitals. Care and accommodation services are provided for people with complex health needs who are unable to remain at home or in a supportive living setting. Health care services are publicly funded and are based on AHS care plans and include care, medications, medical-surgical supplies and medically necessary transportation.

How does my loved one get into Covenant Long Term Care?
Alberta Health Services (AHS) Transition Services coordinates Continuing Care admissions. Your loved one can list a Covenant Care Community as his or her preferred location and AHS will assess him or her for eligibility.

Who will take care of my loved one at Covenant Long Term Care?
Our dedicated staff works together as an interdisciplinary team and includes RN’s, LPN’s, Care Partners, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Chaplain, Dietician, Recreation Therapist and a Clinical Leader. They share information and ideas to provide a high standard of care and to assist you in areas of care that improve quality of life. You may not need the services of all team members, but it is reassuring to know that these services are available if you need them
